Our next adventure was to drive to Columbia, PA (also in Lancaster county) and visit the Turkey Hill Experience. Not the actual Turkey Hill ice cream factory, but a super fun and interactive way to learn all about how ice cream is made. Not to mention the unlimited ice cream samples! Posing with a cow
And inside an ice cream container!
And as a goat!
We splurged and paid extra for the Taste Lab where we got to create our own ice cream flavor! Each station had a set of flavorings (the small bottles) and variegates (the tall bottles) and then along the wall were some mix ins like nuts, candy, etc. The gave everyone about a pint of soft vanilla ice cream, we added our choice of stuff, then it was frozen for a little while, then we got to eat it! It was a lot of fun and very yummy!
Our creations: Brielle had chocolate and cookies and marshmallow, Lily's was Peach flavored with graham cracker crumbs and a raspberry swirl, Brandon's was apple cinnamon flavored with graham crackers and a caramel swirl, and mine was vanilla with marshmallow swirl, graham crackers, and chocolate chips.
Brielle ready to be a factory worker!
In the ball pit that represents "homogenization" of the ice cream. They had an air gun to blast at microbes in the pasteurization chamber, a merry go round and slide for the churning chamber, and other stuff like that to teach about the process in a fun way. Brandon created his own digital flavor with a carton design and a commercial!
We were stuffed with ice cream so skipped lunch, then after dinner we celebrated Brandon's birthday with a triple chocolate cake and presents. Happy Birthday to the best daddy and husband ever!

What a fun way to celebrate a birthday! bet his commercial was awesome--I had no idea the Turkey Hill brand came from close by your home--looks like a very fun and interactive place to visit and as I read the ingredients I thought each one sounded like the best =-)
Brielle does look ready to start work in the factory!
