Lititz, PA

For our week of vacation we spent time exploring some of the fun things our new state has to offer! The first day we went to the pumpkin patch, then the next day we headed to Lititz, a small town in Lancaster county, about 40 minutes away. We visited the Sturgis pretzel bakery where hard pretzels were first invented and marketed in the US. Here's a giant pretzel outside. We forgot to take pictures inside where we got to twist our own soft pretzel and see the original brick ovens where Julius Sturgis made his pretzels. Naturally we bought some yummy pretzels on our way out!

Then we went to the Wilbur chocolate factory; you can't tour where they process the chocolate, but you can see where they hand make chocolates and candies. One lady was working on this display for a fall festival coming up. Everything's made out of chocolate!

Across the street was a fun park with ducks, which both the girls loved. Lily's first word was duck, so it's a big conversation word around here.

After a pizza lunch and ice cream dessert (I had some with pretzels mixed in, yummy!) we headed to Philadelphia. We had time to stop by the Smith Playhouse in Fairmount park. It's a huge mansion that has been converted into a free indoor play space. The girls liked the big train and playing with the toys there. An outdoor playground is right next to it, but it was closed :(
