Carter loves to put his hands up like a champion. He will also sing songs as a show and then gets so excited when we applaud and cheer 😁 Here he is with his tool apron

There was a Food Truck + Arts fest one weekend and it had so many things to do! Food trucks, live music, kids crafts, yoga, bounce houses, games, free samples, and our favorite, GrandPop Bubbles! He had gallons of bubble soap and dozens of kinds of wands and contraptions to make different sizes of bubbles. We had a blast!
The next day was Mother's Day, I enjoyed not having to go to ward council and eating cinnamon rolls with my family before heading to church. The kids sang "Mother I Love You" during Sacrament meeting and all the women received full size candy bars. Brandon also spoke in Sacrament about how mothers and faithful women have taken up their cross to bless the lives of their children and others. He did a great job and lots of folks commented to me how much they liked his talk. For dinner Brandon grilled some steak and we enjoyed a yummy layered mango dessert he and the girls had made. The girls had made cute cards in school and they set up a "throne room" of sorts up in the loft so I could be the "Queen of Mother's Day" hahaha! It was pretty cute! Brandon surprised me with the full 6 book Lunar Chronicles set! I've had a fun time re-reading them all!

The next weekend the girls had their piano recital. It was fun to hear them perform as well as many of our friends who also take lessons from Dr. Siemers. They both did a great job. I wish the piano was positioned so you could better see them play.
The recital was very long though because he had 32 students and each of them played three pieces! The kids were real troopers and the girls did a lot of doodling on their programs. Brandon drew Mario to help pass the time...
We love our piano teacher and the piano curriculum he uses. One of the songs though was a little funny. Here are the lyrics
"Famous People" by Nancy and Randall Faber
Sing the names of famous people:
Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin,
Christopher Columbus, Amadeus Mozart,
Robin Hood, Santa Claus, Peter Pan, Jack Frost, Cinderella too!
I'm all for honoring the great folks who have advanced history in their own way. But why the fictional characters? Why is the only woman a fairy tale princess? I decided to write my own verse recognizing real influential women 😆
Sing the names of famous people:
Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie,
Sandra Day O'Connor, Amelia Earhart,
Rosa Parks, Joan of Arc, Princess Di, Anne Frank, Mother Theresa!
This month Brandon has had to take some vacation days even though we haven't been able to travel anywhere. It's turned out to be so helpful at home though! He's painted the deck and the fence, hung a shutter, helped with a little basement flooding, gone with me to Home Depot to get new counters, unhooked the sink and faucet, been here when the counters were installed, re-installed the disposal and put the sink strainers in and hooked all the plumbing back up, and put in the new faucet! It all looks so great and I'm so grateful for all the hard work he's been doing. Besides all that he's been working on presentations, abstracts, exams, and all sorts of stuff for work!
The new quartz counters are beautiful! A definite upgrade from the grey laminate! I really love the shiny new undermount sink and faucet too. The old one was a white fiberglass that never looked entirely clean. Hooray for home improvements!

It is wonderful to hear how much the girls have improved their piano playing over this last year.
I had no idea that Brandon had inherited so many of his fathers artistic abilities, that’s cool. It is doubly wonderful that you both were able to work so hard on your home improvements. The kitchen looks smashing!
Thank heaven for Carter keeping you all grounded and what really matters :-)
