Peterson and Pennsylvania Milestones

The last half of August was fun as we got ready for some special events....the Philadelphia Temple open house and starting a new school year!

We were able to visit the temple as a family one Saturday in the morning. The temple is so beautiful! It is truly unique in its architecture and design details that make it fit with the rest of Philadelphia....lots of styling from the colonial/revolutionary war era. The girls' favorite parts were the baptismal font and the beautiful chandelier in the celestial room. My favorite part was at the end of the tour (which concludes in a large sealing room) when we were able to pop into one of the smaller sealing rooms and show them the mirrors that reflect our family into eternity.

Brandon stayed for the afternoon shift to help volunteer. He worked as a crossing guard in the hot sun for two hours, then helped out in the parking garage keeping an eye on how full the lot got and directing traffic.

I took the kids to the Please Touch Museum. It was CRAZY busy because it was a Saturday, and they were doing a special Star Wars day so there were several dressed up characters and special activities. The kids had a great time even though they had to play alongside way more kids than usual. Carter had fun exploring the toddler/crawler area. Here he is opening the door to a house, ringing the doorbell, and seeing himself in the mirror.

We got a few minutes to play with a remote controlled R2D2, which is as close as the girls would want to get to a character haha!

Let's get Curious with George!

Carter turned 10 months! Can't believe what a big boy he is! He's just starting to pull up to standing alongside furniture, trying out those legs a little!

Around this same time, Brielle had me look in her mouth at breakfast because something was stuck in her teeth....turns out one of her teeth was loose! It took a couple weeks, but it wiggled out a few days before school started! She was pretty excited to lose a tooth and get some coins from the tooth fairy.

And after a few opportunities to tour her school and meet her teacher, she started the school year! Here's our big kindergartener all ready for school.

She rides the bus and is gone every afternoon. She loves everything about it and I can tell how much she's learning. Her teacher is great and I have the chance to help out as a room parent which is fun.

So glad your family got to tour the Philadelphia temple during the open house-hope the girls got to see the bride's room! Carter's personality reminds me of Brandon--very chill most of the time and always wanting to learn and try things out. The RC R2D2 looks like lots of fun and George is always a good idea. Do your children like the Curious George soundtrack? What exciting times for Brielle--losing a tooth, starting kindergarten and getting to ride a school bus! We love sharing your memories =-)

That temple does look gorgeous! Brett was so excited when I told him Brielle had lost a tooth!
