Summer 2021

For our anniversary we went to HersheyPark while the girls were in school and Carter was at a friend's house. Besides riding our favorite rides, we made sure to try out the new restaurant The Chocolatier. We had yummy nachos and entrees but the best was the milkshake topped with a fabulous slice of cake!

Our gift to ourselves was a new king size bed and mattress. After 15 years of marriage we finally have a real bed instead of just the mattress on a frame! We love our comfy new mattress and the bedding that Mama Judy sent as a gift. Brielle inherited our queen size bed, and we got a mattress topper for it so it's more comfortable.

The pandemic has made travel planning a little tricky, but we managed to go to the beach for a few days. Our first day was cloudy and a little rainy but the next day was perfect and we had such a great time!

Other fun stuff:

HersheyPark (many times)

Bowling with the Kids Bowl Free program

And the highlight was hosting visitors! First to come were Natalie, Eric, Estelle and Sofia!

We had fun taking them to the Turkey Hill experience

cute cousins!

Brielle was a good helper with her littlest cousin Sofia

They spent two days with us at HersheyPark

We had a day camp for the activity day kids and it turned out great! Our leaders worked hard to make it fun and meaningful for the kids. The theme was Scripture super heroes so we did some martial arts/self defense, banner decorating, cooking a meal for a shelter, role playing ways to be good examples, and tie dying.

I almost didn't go berry picking this year but the kids really wanted to so we want on July 3 and got seem lovely berries! The blueberries were a lot easier to pick this year, last year there weren't as many.

Of course we couldn't pass up the apple cider donuts or homemade whoopee pies available at the farm market too!
We made two pans of flag cookie bars with our berries and gave one to our new neighbors. The dad is one of the cardiac interventionists that works with Brandon. The mom is an obgyn surgeon and they have a little 18 month old son and a dog. Also a pool which they were gracious enough to let us swim in!

The next week Sean, Jennie, Brett, Alana, and Lizzie came to visit! HersheyPark was the main highlight!

I don't have any waterpark photos, but we all had fun swimming and splashing.
There was a huge rainstorm our second day.
We tried to wait it out by playing in the arcade and getting some ice cream but we eventually had to make a run for it and got soaked!

We also did some fun things at Chocolate World

Including a 1 lb. custom Reese's cup. We stuffed it with peanut butter and marshmallows and various candies. It was fun to share later!

One evening we got a babysitter and took Sean and Jennie to a nice dinner and to an escape room. It was a lot of fun and we managed to get out with a couple minutes to spare!

We're so glad they could come to visit! Visit Jennie's blog for more photos and details!

Carter learned about Breakout Beasts from his aunt Jennie so he did a bunch of jobs to earn the money to buy some. Inside the egg are pieces to build a creature embedded in a bunch of slimy goo! He was pretty excited when they arrived and we got to play with them.

The girls had a week long dance camp and got to try out some different styles. They're excited to do more dance in the fall!

We had a Primary Pioneer Day activity and it was a lot of fun! We had several stations with pioneer activities like storytelling, butter making, panning for gold, wagon races, stick pull,  and sack races.

Lily turned 9 and Brandon made "boss pancakes" for breakfast :)

She earned and saved money to buy our first family pet....a guinea pig!
She named it Cakepop

For her birthday we went to the gym to play

She requested a lemon cake. I made it four layered with homemade lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream frosting. It was really yummy, but kind of exotic for her friends to appreciate haha!

Our temple reopened and Brandon took a day off so we could attend! We got a babysitter to be with the kiddos while we were gone and it all went well. It was so nice to be in the temple again and the changes made the session a few minutes shorter than before.

After a week of owning Cakepop we realized that guinea pigs do better with a friend. So we went back to the store to get one of her cage mates. The girls picked a white one and named her Munchkin. We also got a larger habitat for them and they are pretty happy with their space. The guinea pigs are fun to watch and sometimes let us hold and pet them. The girls like to have them in their laps while practicing piano or watching TV.

Carter finished his reading book! For his prize he got an indoor camping sleepover with the girls.

The activity day girls heart attacked our front door!

We found a nest of bunnies in our garden!

Our cantaloupe harvest yum!
